Peer2Peer (P2P) Program Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n

What Is Peer2Peer?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Peer2Peer is an amazing way for students from all areas of campus to make new friends and share the SU experience.<\/p>\n

The Two Sides of the Peer2Peer Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Peer2Peer relies on two distinct groups of students. It’s easy to mix them up, so here’s a clear breakdown:<\/p>\n

Supported Group Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • A Peer Trainer<\/em><\/strong> is a leadership role within Peer2Peer<\/li>\n
  • Peer Trainers run weekly Interest Groups (movie nights, fitness sessions, Esports, pet therapy, arts & crafts, etc.)<\/li>\n
  • They attend P2P events to support the group and serve as a point of contact if anyone needs help<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    1:1 Partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • A Peer Partner<\/em><\/strong> is matched with an InclusiveU student<\/li>\n
    • Peer Partners meet weekly for 1\u20132 hours, based on shared interests and schedules (grabbing coffee, working out, attending events, and simply hanging out)<\/li>\n
    • Peer Partners generally fall into two groups:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • \n
          \n
        • SPE 111 students \u2013 taking “Disability in School and Community,” using P2P as their required field placement (minimum 20 hours\/semester)<\/li>\n
        • Volunteer students \u2013 participating simply because they want to be involved and have new experiences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Why Get Involved?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

          For everyone involved, P2P is a chance to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

            \n
          • Attend campus activities with your SU community<\/li>\n
          • Join new clubs<\/li>\n
          • Meet students outside your usual circles<\/li>\n
          • Practice and build social confidence<\/li>\n
          • Have fun and walk away with a real friendship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Attending P2P Events<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            • A weekly email goes out with that week’s and weekend’s event schedule<\/li>\n
            • Events are open to the Syracuse University community<\/li>\n
            • RSVP using the link in the weekly email<\/li>\n
            • Add events to your calendar\/planner, and grab any required tickets ahead of time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Popular event types: Cuse Activities & late-night events, sports games, InclusiveU holiday parties, game nights, day trips, and weekly interest groups.<\/p>\n
