There are several options for paying for InclusiveU. Many students who are eligible for a Medicaid Waiver are able to utilize self-direction funds for the program. We will work together to find the best way for YOU to join us!
The InclusiveU Transition Program is billed monthly at $800 per month for the academic year. This is separate from tuition, which costs approximately $1400 for a 3 credit audited course. We recommend budgeting around $3000 per semester for tuition and an additional $3200 per semester for transition program costs.
Onondaga Community Living (OCL) Access Program
If you live in Syracuse and are working with Onondaga Community Living (OCL) on housing, employment, Medicaid, etc., you can be a part of the Access Program, where students attend InclusiveU through University College and receive advising and other supports from the Access coordinator on campus. Access participants are responsible for 1/3 of the regular audit tuition per 3 credit course, or approximately $435 per semester.
Other Agencies in Syracuse
If you work with another agency in Syracuse, contact InclusiveU with the agencies you work with and we can discuss your options.
Out of State or Privately Funded
If you live in another state or are privately funded, InclusiveU can connect you with local Syracuse agencies to help with housing, independent living, transportation, and more. Estimated costs will be similar to the Transition Program option above. If your family will be paying all costs through loans and private options, we will work directly with you on payment options. Here are some local agencies we work with (links to come).
Parent or Guardian Works at Syracuse University
If your parent or guardian is a full time employee at SU, you are eligible for the same dependent tuition benefits as matriculated SU students. You will still be responsible for the $800/month InclusiveU program fee and any transportation required.
Options for High School Students
OnCampus: If you live in the Syracuse City School District and are between the ages of 18-21, you can be a part of the OnCampus program, where students enter Syracuse University through the school district. SCSD provides administrative fees, teaching assistants, accommodations and any disability-related equipment, transportation to and from campus, and a teacher who ensures students are getting what they need from the program. There are no costs to the student for this program.
Area Districts: We are currently working with other districts around Syracuse to bring the InclusiveU opportunity to their students. Please contact us if you would like to suggest a collaboration with your district.
- All program costs include Advisory services, direct instruction and support in the STAR Person-Centered Planning Process, InclusiveU seminars on self-management and self determination skills, Peer-to-Peer program participation, Universal Design for Learning, i-Pad for educational purposes, parking permits and program administrative fees. Most books and class materials as well as the SU student activity fee of $121 per semester are also covered.
- All program costs exclude the cost of meals and social opportunities on campus. We recommend budgeting $15-$30 per week. You are also responsible for paying for a mentor to support the student during campus activities and classes if needed. We can connect you with a matriculated SU student to serve in this role.
- Parents and students who cannot afford the cost of InclusiveU should talk to their preferred local agency or vocational rehabilitation about their options; with recent changes in policies, now Medicaid waivers and Self-Directed Plans can be good ways to cover all the basic costs of InclusiveU. Administrative fees are charged on a sliding scale, so please contact InclusiveU to learn more; no student will be turned away just because they are unable to pay the administrative fee.
